Twin Campus

​The American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo (AUB Mediterraneo) in Pafos, Cyprus is a twin campus of the American University of Beirut and began welcoming students in fall 2023. As AUB’s first campus outside Lebanon, AUB Mediterraneo is one major milestone in the realization of the Global AUB vision.

Academic Programs

The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences (FAFS) was established in 1952 on AUB’s main campus in Beirut and was modeled on the US land-grant college system. It owns and operates a 100-hectare research and outreach center located 80 kilometers east of Beirut in the Beqaa Valley which was known as the​ Agricultural Research and Education Center, and was later renamed as the Advancing Research Enabling Communities Center (AREC). FAFS has transformed its position from the land-grant model to a leading faculty that aspires to foster the sustainable enhancement of the health and well-being of people and nature throughout Lebanon and the region.​

FAFS is committed to promoting and disseminating knowledge through higher education, research, and outreach in agricultureagribusinessnutrition and dieteticspublic health nutritionfood sciencefood safetyfood securityrural community development, and landscape architecture. Additionally, FAFS promotes executive education through two diplomas: the Graduate Professional in Global Supply Chain Management and Graduate Online Diploma in Food Security. 

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences embodies AUB’s core commitment to the liberal arts and sciences. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the arts, humanities, and social, natural, and mathematical sciences, and is dedicated to advanced research in all of these domains. Through its freshmen and general education programs, it is the university’s principal gateway to higher studies and professional education. The faculty, through its teaching and research, promotes free inquiry, critical thinking, academic integrity, and respect for diversity and equality.

As one of the oldest and most prominent schools of public health in the region, the Faculty of Health Sciences aims since its inception to shape the public health discourse by preparing professionals to be agents of change and producing research that impacts practice and policy, and thus the health of populations.​

The Faculty of Medicine at the American University of Beirut is the leading internationally accredited medical education and research institution in Lebanon and the Middle East known for delivering educational and training programs in medicine and biomedical research responsive to the globally evolving needs in academic medicine and patient c​are.

The mission of the Faculty of Medicine at the American University of Beirut is to educate and train students and physicians to be ethical, highly competent, compassionate, socially responsible professionals dedicated to enriching medical research and scholarship globally, and to leading the advancement of health care delivery in Lebanon and the Middle East.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Hariri School of Nursing (HSON) at AUB, established in 1905, is the leading school of nursing in Lebanon and the region, recognized nationally and internationally for excellence in education, research, and service. The HSON BSN and MSN programs are the first outside the US to receive accreditation (2007) and reaccreditation (2012) by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). A PhD program in nursing science was​ launched in 2018-19.  HSON is home to the Division of Undergraduate Studies and the Division of Graduate Studies as well as the new Center for Nursing Research. 

The Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (MSFEA) offers world-class educational programs that prepare students for the engineering, architecture, and design professions. ​Rooted in the liberal education model, our programs also prepare students to be engaged citizens and leaders, entrepreneurs, and researchers who deploy their skills with ingenuity, integrity, and a sense of responsibility towards future generations.  Our faculty produces transformative knowledge and technology through internationally recognized research and design and seeks to leverage the special contexts of Lebanon and the region to define highly novel and relevant research programs. We impact policy and practice through our alumni and by directly engaging industry, government, and the public at large.​
