This regional gathering examines how colleges tell honest stories about their place, their people, and their purposes. It will explore how honest storytelling can be a collaborative and college-wide process, challenges that arise when uncovering untold and undertold stories, and imagine how these stories are integrated into larger vocational narratives about the college.

This webinar brings forward key questions that “Big Read” facilitators and participants may be asking as they read the book together. Some may have questions about the ecological nature of the book, others may wonder how the theological framework informs the chapters.

Each year, NetVUE hosts a series of events for scholars in the fields of theology and religious studies at NetVUE member institutions prior to the Annual Meetings of the American Academy of Religion and Society of Biblical Literature.

This NetVUE regional gathering will focus on exploring the future of higher education at the intersection of Whole Person Education and vocational formation. In a time of rapid technological change, this event will invite educators to reflect on how we can prepare students not just for careers, but for meaningful lives of service, purpose, and resilience.

A leadership development program for college presidents in their first or second year and their spouses or partners that addresses the practical needs and strategic questions for success as leaders of independent colleges and universities.

The Spouses and Partners of New Presidents Program runs concurrently with CIC’s New Presidents Program in advance of the Presidents Institute. A small team of experienced presidential spouses leads the group through a comprehensive exploration of the spouse and partner role and helps each participant understand how he or she can serve in that role most effectively and with personal fulfillment.

The Presidential Renewal Program is designed to support the personal renewal of experienced member presidents at CIC institutions who will continue to serve in the vital role of the college presidency. In addition to rich content, the seminars provide space for solitude and reflection with a small fellowship of presidents and partners seeking their own renewal.

CIC’s Presidential Spouses and Partners Program is designed to offer insight, advice, support, and fellowship to those who share this unique role. Developed in consultation with a task force of experienced presidential spouses and partners, it is held in conjunction with the Presidents Institute each January.

Personal and community stories are key pieces of Wirzba’s Love’s Braided Dance. In this webinar, we will dive deep into how stories can help us explore vocation. Presenters will explore artistic, scientific, and literary approaches to the stories shared in the book, and ways to hear, create, and listen to stories as part of the Big Read experience.

The Presidential Vocation and Institutional Mission program is designed for senior leaders at CIC member schools to explore their potential calling to serve as a college or university president. The program is designed to help participants explore their vocational calling, as well as examine what types of institutional missions they might best serve.

CIC and the American Academic Leadership Institute (AALI) are pleased to announce the 2026–27 Senior Leadership Academy (SLA), a yearlong program for administrators in higher education who aspire to cabinet-level positions in independent colleges or universities.

The Executive Leadership Academy (ELA) is a yearlong program cosponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), and the American Academic Leadership Institute (AALI) to prepare experienced provosts and vice presidents to move to positions of greater responsibility, including presidencies.
