Given the increasing importance of hands-on, immersive learning in undergraduate education and the vital need for human connection in our work, this gathering invites faculty members, staff, and administrators to consider how vocation, mentorship, and experiential learning intersect in a higher education context.

The Presidential Renewal Program is designed to support the personal renewal of experienced member presidents at CIC institutions who will continue to serve in the vital role of the college presidency. In addition to rich content, the seminars provide space for solitude and reflection with a small fellowship of presidents and partners seeking their own renewal.

The Faculty Leadership Academy is designed to support faculty members at CIC member colleges and universities who aspire to assume leadership roles in higher education—particularly those who have demonstrated a commitment to inclusive leadership.

The Presidential Vocation and Institutional Mission program is designed for senior leaders at CIC member schools to explore their potential calling to serve as a college or university president. The program is designed to help participants explore their vocational calling, as well as examine what types of institutional missions they might best serve.

Vocation Across Campus: Supporting Students’ Search for Meaning is designed for staff who direct campus programs or serve in other long-term administrative capacities, but who do not also hold faculty appointments.

CIC and Interfaith America (IA) are hosting a multidisciplinary seminar on Teaching Interfaith Understanding for full-time faculty members at CIC member colleges and universities. This seminar, led by Laurie Patton, president of Middlebury College, and Eboo Patel, founder and president of Interfaith America, will examine the substantial theoretical questions inherent in teaching interfaith understanding and explore the practical work of translating these ideas into courses.

CIC is pleased to announce a new seminar for faculty members and staff who are serving in leadership roles at institutions that are members of its Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE). This seminar, Institutional Leadership for Vocation, is designed to bring together a group of current leaders who are eager to explore how vocational exploration and discernment can play a greater role across campus, particularly in the work that these leaders do with members of the faculty and staff, but also in curricular and co-curricular programming for students.

CIC offers the annual Department and Division Chair Workshops to strengthen leadership at the departmental level. The workshops are designed to serve both experienced and new chairs of departments or divisions at independent colleges and universities.

CIC is pleased to offer a multidisciplinary seminar, Teaching Vocational Exploration, for full-time faculty members in all fields at colleges and universities that are members of the Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE). The seminar is designed for early- to mid-career faculty members at the rank of assistant or associate professor or the equivalent.

This seminar, Enhancing Vocational Exploration, is designed to bring together a small group of educators who seek to contribute to the growing national conversation about vocation and calling.

The State Councils Annual Conference provides state executives and fundraising staff with a forum for face-to-face networking and an opportunity to share best practices with colleagues.

The workshop will engage campus leaders, career professionals, and employment experts as we design a model for a National Center for Careers and the Liberal Arts. Once launched, the Center will augment the work already being done at independent colleges and universities by supporting campus initiatives and providing research, employer partnerships, and thought leadership.

Participants in the NetVUE colloquy on Writing Vocation will become familiar with and better equipped to write about vocation in different contexts. They will learn about opportunities within NetVUE to write about vocation, develop possible projects, and create a writing plan for such work.
