Academic Programs
College of Architecture, Art, and Design
Design and the arts fundamentally affect the quality of our lives by satisfying in profound ways the needs and desires of individuals and societies. Students and faculty in the College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD) are immersed in processes of iterative making and exploring in order to realize the transformative potential of design. They strive to understand systems at a very deep level and reimagine them in extraordinary ways. They debunk the notion that design and the arts are mere hobbies that do not add value or change lives.
Making and testing are an essential part of what we do and how we learn in CAAD; these are intense and challenging endeavors. Furthermore, the liberal arts core at AUS, which augments courses in CAAD, distinguishes us from many other design schools and ensures that our students have a broad intellectual preparation for the challenges they will face as competent and successful professionals in today’s world. Employers and graduate school admission committees prefer CAAD graduates because of their design abilities and because they are articulate, critical thinkers.
College of Arts and Sciences
We aim to inspire the intellectual and creative potential of our students and to encourage them to conceptualize, reflect and act.
It is the mission of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) to provide our students with an intellectual, cultural and scientific foundation for academic and professional education. We also equip our students with the mental and academic tools needed to become independent thinkers. Our outstanding multinational faculty holds degrees from some of the finest universities in the world and is committed to producing graduates that are fast becoming the envy of other regional institutions. One of the reasons for our success is the great emphasis we place on developing the curricula we teach.
College of Engineering
As one the Middle East’s top-ranked engineering colleges, CEN empowers the next generation of innovators, problem solvers, independent thinkers, global citizens, entrepreneurs and leaders that will impact the future of the world. We provide a life-changing experience to students inside and outside the classroom to help them excel as engineers and computer scientists. Our faculty engage in cutting-edge research that inspires students during their educational experience at AUS. The college continues to reinvent itself and ensure state-of-the-art infrastructure to meet the changing needs of students, faculty and community. The college forges strong ties, collaborations, and alliances with alumni, industry, government, and community.
School of Business Administration
As one of the most well-respected business schools in the region, we prepare tomorrow’s global business leaders. At the School of Business Administration (SBA), we strive to provide high-quality, American-style business education. Our programs provide local and global perspectives, promote critical thinking and develop effective communication skills. Today’s effective business professional must have competence in many disciplines, an understanding of a variety of relationships and the ability to analyze evolving business, economic and governmental trends.
Regardless of the specialty area, we ensure that our students must become effective leaders who can organize and motivate groups to serve the goals of their organizations. We believe that in order to effectively adapt business practices to emerging conditions, such as the accelerating growth of technology, communications and the internationalization of the business world, a thorough grasp of current business and economic processes, theory and applications are essential. Our training has resulted in exemplary success, with our graduates being snapped up soon after graduation by some of the biggest multinational corporate names in the world.
