LAU was founded as a college for women in 1924 by Presbyterian missionaries. The institution has grown and changed tremendously through the decades, but the enterprising and progressive spirit of service of those who started it endures. Visit the Centennial website. LAU is incorporated in the United States as a nonprofit higher education institution through the New York State Education Department. All of LAU’s academic programs are reviewed and approved by this body. In addition, LAU is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education, Inc. (NECHE). Several programs are also accredited by authoritative agencies in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

School of Architecture and Design

The LAU School of Architecture and Design continues on the path of establishing itself as a first-rate institution for education in arts, design, and architecture in Lebanon and the region. After its consolidation as a school in 2009, it has emerged as a role model in setting educational standards and fomenting a creative, open, multi-disciplinary and proactive design culture. School of Arts and Sciences

The School of Arts and Sciences is home to LAU’s oldest programs, at the core of the university’s liberal arts tradition. It offers numerous degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Graduates from the School of Arts and Sciences are sought by diverse employers in the corporate world, the public sector, media outlets, advertising agencies, educational institutions, design houses, science organizations, and high-tech operations, among others. The Adnan Kassar School of Business (AKSOB) focuses on high-quality teaching in a supportive environment to ensure that, upon graduation, its students will possess a competitive advantage in their chosen fields. Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine

The LAU Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine maintains administrative offices on two campuses: the Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury Health Sciences Center located in Byblos, and the Sarraf Building adjacent to the school’s principal teaching hospital, the Lebanese American University Medical Center-Rizk Hospital located in Achrafieh. The Alice Ramez Chagoury School of Nursing is committed to preparing empathic, competent, and ethical professional nurses as future leaders dedicated to improving the health of the people of Lebanon and the Middle East region through interprofessional education, innovative research, scholarship, and community engagement. School of Pharmacy

The School of Pharmacy at the Lebanese American University (LAU) is located in the city of Byblos, Lebanon. The School was officially established according to Decree number 9278 dated October 5, 1996 by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education. This was in response to the growing healthcare needs in the country and the region for pharmacists who have advanced knowledge and practice skills in clinical pharmacy. The School is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP).
