Congratulations to long-time NetVUE leader Younus Mirza, who recently received a grant sponsored by the Henry Luce Foundation and the American Academy of Religion (AAR) focusing on advancing public scholarship on religion. The program supports scholars of religion who are working to engage publics in innovative ways, through projects designed for presentation in public spaces and outreach through publicly accessible sites.
Younus is a NetVUE Faculty Fellow (having participated in the 2018 faculty development seminar) and a NetVUE Scholar (contributing to the 2019 collection Hearing Vocation Differently). His research project, The Islamic Mary: Maryam through the Centuries, explores the figure of Mary or Maryam, who is a shared figure between Christians and Muslims and is found throughout the Islamic tradition from the religion’s holiest text (the Qur’an) to modern interfaith relations.
If you or one of your colleagues is the recent recipient of a major grant or has published something that may be of interest and use to other NetVUE leaders, please let us know about it. Send details to Daniel Meyers, NetVUE online community coordinator, at dmeyers@cic.edu.
