Humanities Research for the Public Good

CIC’s report, Humanities Research for the Public Good: A CIC Initiative to Connect Colleges and Communities through Student Research and Public Programs, highlights ways CIC institutions have partnered with community organizations to serve the public good, expand student research opportunities, and bring the impact of the humanities into focus.

The report draws upon 62 public-facing humanities projects funded by CIC grants (with generous support from the Mellon Foundation). It describes the positive impact of public humanities projects on students, faculty members, archivists and librarians, community members, and colleges. The multimedia report documents the creative range of funded projects and the effective use of archival and library collections. CIC hopes these examples inspire other campuses and faculty members to engage in similar work.
