Updates from the Belong Community: Continuing the Work and Expanding Benefits

The CIC Belong network remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering communities of belonging across our campuses, even in the face of growing challenges and political responses. Belong is a collective of campuses united by our mission to ensure every student feels valued, included, and empowered to succeed.

CIC is excited to share that Belong is expanding its offerings in 2025, granting members access to ACUE’s Learning Lab of Quick Study Courses. This continued learning suite, valued at $30,000 per campus, is being shared with Belong members at no cost thanks to generous grant funding. These Quick Study Courses are designed to equip faculty and staff with the tools they need to address many of the needs of today’s students.

Key courses in the Learning Lab include:

  • Establishing a Culture of Constructive Conversations: Tools and strategies to promote open and respectful dialogue, critical for fostering inclusive communities
  • Developing Students’ Critical Thinking and Analytical Skills: Techniques to challenge students to think deeply and critically
  • Developing Students’ Media Literacy: Empowering students to navigate and assess today’s complex media landscape
  • Teaching with AI-Inclusive and AI-Resistant Learning Experiences: Designing coursework that integrates AI tools while maintaining academic rigor

These courses, among others, will bolster our ability to provide meaningful professional development around fostering inclusion and equity across our campuses. By establishing a culture of constructive conversations and empowering students to think critically and act responsibly, CIC is helping campuses build stronger, more inclusive academic environments.

CIC remains committed to growing the Belong network and enhancing the benefits offered to members. If you’re not yet a part of CIC’s Belong community, now is the perfect time to join. For more information about the network and how to apply, please contact Sabrina Sturgeon, senior project coordinator, at ssturgeon@cic.edu.
