Illah R. Nourbakhsh

Illah R. Nourbakhsh is a professor at the Robotics Institute and inaugural director of the CREATE Lab at Carnegie Mellon University. As a computer scientist and educator, his interests focus on human-robot interaction, artificial intelligence, and community empowerment. He has authored many texts including Robot Futures and coauthored AI and Humanity (2020) with Jennifer Keating. Previously, he was Robotics Group lead for NASA/Ames during the MER landings to Mars missions. He was named a Kavli Fellow at the National Academy of Sciences and, in 2013, he was inducted into the June Harless West Virginia Hall of Fame.
