Marjorie Hass became president of the Council of Independent Colleges in 2021. Previously, she served as president of Rhodes College (TN) from 2017 to 2021. Before that, she served as president of Austin College (TX) and as provost and faculty member in the philosophy department at Muhlenberg College (PA). Hass served on the board of the Association of American Colleges & Universities and as former chair of the board of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. She is currently a member of the Board of Trustees at Brandeis University (MA). Hass is the author of A Leadership Guide for Women in Higher Education (Johns Hopkins Press, 2022) and the creator of a widely read monthly newsletter for higher ed leaders.
