Mary B. Marcy is a nationally recognized leader whose work focuses on the future of higher education, with an emphasis on innovation, equity, strategic positioning, and sustainability. Her book, The Small College Imperative: Models for Sustainable Futures, was named by Forbes as a top 10 book in higher education in 2020. Marcy is the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s president-in-residence for 2021–2022. She led independent colleges for nearly two decades and is the president emerita of Dominican University of California. During her presidency, Dominican earned the 2020 Award for Institutional Transformation from the American Council on Education. Also in 2020, Marcy was awarded the Washington Center’s Presidential Award in recognition of her leadership in civic engagement initiatives. Prior to joining Dominican, Marcy was provost of Bard College at Simon’s Rock and vice president at Bard College. She is a former member of the CIC Board of Directors. Marcy earned a BA in political science and communications with honors from the University of Nebraska and an MPhil and DPhil in politics from the University of Oxford.
