Senior Vice President for Academic Programs, Council of Independent Colleges

Titi Ufomata joined the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) in 2022 as senior vice president for academic programs. In this role, Ufomata has lead responsibility for academic programs and leadership development programs as well as fundraising. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, she contributes significantly to the strategic direction of the Council.

She most recently served as Provost and Senior Vice President at Saint Mary’s College, Indiana. Prior to that, she was Provost and Dean of Faculty at Hobart and William Smith Colleges where she also served briefly as Special Advisor to the President and Board of Trustees. She joined Hobart and William Smith Colleges from Kentucky State University where she was Associate Provost and Distinguished Professor.

An experienced higher education administrator, Ufomata is a teacher and a scholar. She earned a PhD in phonetics from the University College London and degrees in English from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

An alumna of the Harvard Institute of Educational Management and of the Higher Education Resources Services (HERS) Institute, she has participated in The Aspen Institute Deans’ Seminar and the American Council on Education’s yearlong Institute for New Chief Academic Officers. She has received several prestigious international awards including the Fulbright International Education Administrators Seminar Award to France.

She has a deep and varied experience in higher education administration, including academic program development and management, strategic visioning and implementation, accreditation, faculty and leadership development, student success and retention, enrollment management, fundraising, facilities development and management, community engagement and Board relations. A strategic thinker, Ufomata is comfortable with complexity. She relates well with people.
