Tynisha D. Willingham

Tynisha D. Willingham joined Eastern Mennonite University (VA) as provost and vice president of academic affairs in 2023. She has more than 20 years of experience in academia as a staff member, a faculty member, and an administrator. Most recently, Willingham served as vice president of academic affairs, chief academic officer, and professor of education at Mary Baldwin University (VA), where she was instrumental in increasing student success using a data-informed approach that supported the institution’s strategic plan. Willingham’s research interests focus on teacher education and include such topics as academic service learning in teacher education and culturally inclusive teacher preparation approaches. She is a member of the Chief Academic OfficersTask Force and co-coordinated the 2023 Institute for Chief Academic Officers’ Gathering and Discussion Group for Women Administrators.
