A Tale of Two Researchers: Findings from Studies on the Development of Calling

March 23, 2024 Rooms 304–305

This session will share a concise summary of the research findings of two qualitative dissertation projects on the development of vocation and calling among college students. One study examined the essence of calling development through the framework of social cognitive career theory at a regional public university. Another study considered how calling developed among undergraduate women raised and educated in Appalachia, seeking to understand the influences of faith, family, life circumstance, and culture on developing a sense of calling. The session will discuss findings, future research opportunities, and concrete applications for NetVUE member institutions.
