Do you have the optimal organizational structure in your academic affairs unit? Do you wonder if a different structure might produce different outcomes? Are you curious about other structures? In this session, we will share several case studies from start to finish reorganizing departments and programs within academic affairs. We will examine best practice in organizational structure, rationale for change, and challenges to the process. Specifically, we will discuss adding a divisional structure supporting departments in two cases and undoing a divisional structure in another. Participants will leave with a variety of approaches and action plans for how structures enhance opportunities for collaboration and growth in this challenging moment in higher education.
