Business for the Common Good: Vocational Reflection in Business Programs

March 21, 2026

“Why are you majoring in ________ ? What are you going to do with that?” While questions like these get asked frequently of English majors and anthropology students, rarely do business students hear the same queries. When we don’t ask (because we assume the obvious answer: “to get a job and make money”), we deprive these students of the opportunity to reflect on the purpose of their studies, their work, and their lives. In this session, a business school dean, a director of a “Business for Humanity” program, and a director of a leadership and service institute share strategies for integrating business students into vocational programming and inspiring them to connect careers with callings.
