How can institutions introduce questions of vocation and purpose to diverse student populations with a multitude of needs, responsibilities, and expectations? How might this endeavor be deepened by an intentional focus on character formation and leadership development? How can institutions design and assess creative courses and co-curricular programs that educate character effectively? This session presents an innovative, research-based approach to educating leaders of character. Panelists will describe the design, delivery, and assessment of courses and programs that have a measurable impact on undergraduates’ character and sense of purpose. They will also share more about how to get involved in a new Educating Character Initiative, which provides support, resources, and grants to institutions and individuals who wish to educate for character in their contexts.
