One Student, Every Office: What Changes When AI Works across Divisions

November 9, 2026

A student asks one question that crosses four offices. Increasingly, AI delivers the answer, requiring academic affairs, enrollment, finance, and student services to decide together how a single tool should be built, funded, governed, and owned. Session participants will compare notes on broader shifts in academic operations, including degree audits, course scheduling, advising, and retention, and where agents are beginning to carry more of that work.

Provosts from Molloy University (NY) and Berry College (GA), both CIC member institutions, will lead a working conversation about where AI has found a place on their campuses, what changed as it expanded from one office to several, and what they would tell peers at an earlier stage. They will explore how they identified the problems worth handing to an agent, what shifts when one tool serves academic affairs and enrollment simultaneously, how academic policy and faculty governance remain in faculty hands even when AI delivers the answer, how ownership and accountability are determined when a student’s question crosses divisional lines, and what these changes could mean for accreditation.
