Riding the AI Wave: Navigating Opportunities and Challenges in the Liberal Arts

November 3, 2024 Atrium Ballroom

The capabilities of generative artificial intelligence (AI) are quickly expanding. With this in mind, there are a number of questions we face. How are our institutions using AI? How have our institutions employed AI in the campus domains of admissions, academic integrity, advising, and student retention? What are current guidelines surrounding AI for students and instructors? What are the ethical considerations that should be considered while adopting AI on campuses? This interactive workshop explores the promise and potential pitfalls of AI implementation. Participants will learn about ethics surrounding the use of AI, current pedagogical strategies, how to address faculty anxiety, discipline-specific implications, and emerging best practices.

The interactive seminars cover important issues that currently impact independent higher education. They are designed to be practical and hands on with clear learning outcomes. Each will include examples of replicable models for participants to use when faced with the situations covered by the seminars.

These interactive seminars are free of charge and do not require pre-registration, but they have limited capacity. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Seminars will be repeated at 10:45 a.m.
