Contemporary admissions processes to health-related professional schools have a strongly holistic focus. Consideration is given not only to academic performance, but also to a student applicant’s virtues, service, co-curricular experiences, and potential for practicing and teaching in their profession. For many students, however, the demands of their major field tend to absorb most of their attention; they are often unprepared for the holistic nature of the admissions process and are unable to demonstrate the qualities that professional programs expect. This session will present mission-aligned activities and practices that guide students in their vocational discernment into health-related professions, helping them think beyond their academic major to offer compelling applications, and to become more effective healthcare providers.
