2024 Presidents Institute

2024 Allen P. Splete Award for Outstanding Service

The Allen P. Splete Award for Outstanding Service was presented to Ann Die Hasselmo at the 2024 Presidents Institute. Hasselmo is president emerita of the American Academic Leadership Institute (AALI) and of Hendrix College (AR). Prior to becoming the founding president of AALI, she was the managing director of Academic Search Consultation Service. She has served on the boards of multiple organizations and received numerous awards for her work in higher education.

2024 Award for Philanthropy (Individual)

The 2024 Award for Philanthropy (Individual) was presented to George Birdsong at the 2024 Presidents Institute. George Birdsong is the CEO of Birdsong Corporation. George is an ardent supporter of higher education, serving as a member and chair of the Board of Trustees of the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges and the Virginia Wesleyan College Board of Trustees. His meaningful humanitarian and charitable efforts have been recognized by many educational and charitable organizations in Virginia and beyond.

2024 Award for Philanthropy (Organization)

The 2024 Award for Philanthropy (Organization) was presented to TheDream.US at the 2024 Presidents Institute. Co-founded in 2013 by Donald E. Graham, former publisher of The Washington Post, TheDream.US is the nation’s largest college access and success program for DREAMers (young people who immigrated to the US as minors without official authorization) to provide funding and systems of support.

TheDream.US received the 2024 Award for Philanthropy (Organization) at the Presidents Institute. Co-founded in 2013 by Donald E. Graham (second from left), former publisher of The Washington Post, TheDream.US is the nation’s largest college access and success program for DREAMers. 2023 Institute for Chief Academic Officers

2023 Chief Academic Officer Award

The 2023 Chief Academic Officer Award was presented to Kerry Fulcher at the 2023 Institute for Chief Academic Officers. Kerry Fulcher is provost and chief academic officer of Point Loma Nazarene University (CA). He is responsible for all undergraduate and graduate operations in curriculum, instructional programs, educational policy, academic planning, academic resources, and accreditation. Fulcher was a professor of biology at Point Loma Nazarene starting in 1994 and was biology chair from 2002 to 2008 before moving into administration. He has been in his current position since 2010.

2023 Institute for Chief Academic Officers Task Force Awards

The 2023 Institute for Chief Academic Officers Task Force Awards were presented to Jeffrey Frick and Kerry Fulcher. Frick is the vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college of Washington & Jefferson College (PA) since 2019 and Fulcher is provost and chief academic officer of Point Loma Nazarene University (CA) since 2010.
