Allison Pugh is professor of sociology at Johns Hopkins University (MD) and a 2026 Guggenheim Fellow. Previously, she was professor of sociology and department chair at the University of Virginia. Pugh is the author of The Last Human Job: The Work of Connecting in a Disconnected World (Princeton University Press, 2024), which won the Best Book Award from the American Sociological Association. Her research has been covered by The New York Times, The Guardian and Hidden Brain. Pugh was the 2025 vice president of the American Sociological Association and has been a fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies, the Berggruen Institute, and the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University (CA).
