Executive Leadership Academy
The Executive Leadership Academy (ELA) is a yearlong program cosponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), and the American Academic Leadership Institute (AALI) to prepare experienced provosts and vice presidents to move to positions of greater responsibility, including presidencies. -
Presidential Renewal Program
The Presidential Renewal Program is designed to support the personal renewal of experienced member presidents at CIC institutions who will continue to serve in the vital role of the college presidency. In addition to rich content, the seminars provide space for solitude and reflection with a small fellowship of presidents and partners seeking their own renewal. -
Teaching European Art in Context
“Power and Absence: Connecting Renaissance Art to Diverse Audiences ," a seminar for CIC faculty members in art history, the arts, and other disciplines, such as history and English, will explore representations of difference in European art, ca. 1400–1700. Victor Coonin, professor of art and art history at Rhodes College, will lead the seminar that will draw upon the museum's rich collections. -
Legacies of American Slavery: Faculty Seminar
The Faculty Seminar is designed for individual faculty members from CIC member institutions who want to enhance their research and teaching about the multiple legacies of American slavery. -
Teaching Interfaith Understanding
CIC and Interfaith America (IA) are hosting a multidisciplinary seminar on Teaching Interfaith Understanding for full-time faculty members at CIC member colleges and universities. This seminar, led by Laurie Patton, president of Middlebury College, and Eboo Patel, founder and president of Interfaith America, will examine the substantial theoretical questions inherent in teaching interfaith understanding and explore the practical work of translating these ideas into courses. -
2023 NetVUE Gathering at Waynesburg University: Vocational Exploration in the Classroom
This event will provide faculty members with concrete strategies for vocational exploration and reflection that they can integrate into their teaching. Participants will reflect on their definition of vocation, share current practices, and discuss innovative methods for helping students make connections among coursework, service, and career goals. -
2023 Institute for Chief Academic Officers with Chief Advancement and Chief Communication and Marketing Officers
This annually held meeting brings chief academic officers of independent colleges and universities together, and includes special programming for new CAOs and CAOs in their third and fourth year. This year's Institute will be jointly held with chief advancement and chief communication and marketing officers. -
2022 Institute for Chief Academic Officers with Chief Financial and Chief Enrollment Officers
This annually held meeting brings chief academic officers of independent colleges and universities together, and includes special programming for new CAOs and CAOs in their third and fourth year. This year's Institute will be jointly held with chief financial and chief enrollment officers. -
2022 NetVUE Conference
The 2022 NetVUE Conference will address the theme, “Called into Community: Vocation, Engagement, and Difference.” The goal of NetVUE is to provide a nationwide campus-supported network to foster the intellectual and theological exploration of vocation among college and university students. -
2023 New Presidents Program
A leadership development program for college presidents in their first or second year and their spouses or partners that addresses the practical needs and strategic questions for success as leaders of independent colleges and universities.
