Learning and Networking | Scriptural Reasoning as Vocational Reflection

Back to NetVUE Connections

In May and June, NetVUE invites colleagues to participate—at no cost—in one of four regional hubs for training in Scriptural Reasoning, which can enable students to think together in small groups about their future directions in life. Scriptural Reasoning is a transformative intercultural practice that encourages people of different faith traditions to enter into conversation with one another, and evidence suggests that it serves vocational reflection as well. This practice equips students with cross-cultural communication skills, deepens their understanding of their own and others’ traditions, enables faculty members and staff to collaborate, and provides engaging opportunities for first-generation students. Thanks to the generosity of Lilly Endowment Inc., two nights’ lodging and all meals will be covered. Interested participants who need assistance covering travel may apply for a modest travel grant as well.

Those who wish to attend can click on one of the links below for their preferred date and location. Other than providing basic contact information, no further application is needed. Space is limited, so applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Campuses are strongly encouraged to register as two- or three-person teams, as this tends to maximize energy for bringing the experience back to campus and considering how it might be implemented with students. Each member from a campus team will need to register separately, and individuals are also welcome.

Here are the locations and dates of each hub:

Butler University
