The NetVUE Newsletter: Vocational Connections

The NetVUE Newsletter began publishing in the fall of 2021. It is designed to provide information about upcoming NetVUE programs and services, as well as other opportunities that may be of interest to faculty members and staff at NetVUE member institutions. Until the fall of 2023, the newsletter was published as a standalone mailing through Constant Contact. Starting in October 2023, newsletter articles are being published here on the NetVUE website.

April 2024

The April 2024 edition features highlights from the 2024 NetVUE Conference in Atlanta, GA. Reflections from multiple contributors cover some of the main elements such as the plenary sessions, workshops and sessions. This edition also includes an update on recent episodes from NetVUE’s podcast, Callings, and posts from NetVUE’s blog, Vocation Matters. Lastly, the newsletter concludes with a review of Michael Roth’s new book, The Student: A Short History, written by Erin VanLaningham, director of the NetVUE Scholarly Resources Project.

February 2024

The February 2024 edition features additional information on the 2024 NetVUE Conference, the recent publication from the Scholarly Resources Project, and information on the next NetVUE Big Read. It provides links to recent posts and updates on the NetVUE blog and episodes of the NetVUE podcast, Callings. It also details an upcoming NetVUE Regional Gathering, features two NetVUE Campus Spotlights, and congratulates our colleague, Younus Mirza. In addition, the newsletter includes a review of Simone Stolzoff’s book The Good Enough Job, and a reflection by John Barton, who serves as the Co-Host of Callings, the NetVUE Podcast.

November 2023

The November 2023 edition features additional information on the 2024 NetVUE Conference, the announcement of the next book from the Scholarly Resources Project, and information on assessing vocation projects. It provides links to recent posts on the NetVUE blog and episodes of the NetVUE podcast, Callings. It also features a spotlight on the NetVUE Campus Visit Program, a review of James K. A. Smith’s book How to Inhabit Time, and a reflection by Krista E. Hughes, who serves as NetVUE’s director of resource development.

October 2023

The October 2023 edition features information on the 2024 NetVUE Conference, as well as upcoming fall semester events, grant programs, and resources. It provides links to recent posts on the NetVUE blog and episodes of the NetVUE podcast, Callings. It also features a spotlight on the NetVUE Campus Visit Program, a review of Paul Hanstedt’s book Creating Wicked Students, and a reflection by Daniel Meyers, who serves as NetVUE’s online community coordinator and newsletter editor.
