2023 NetVUE Gathering at Waynesburg University: Vocational Exploration in the Classroom
This event will provide faculty members with concrete strategies for vocational exploration and reflection that they can integrate into their teaching. Participants will reflect on their definition of vocation, share current practices, and discuss innovative methods for helping students make connections among coursework, service, and career goals. -
An Introduction to Student Ally: A Title IX Solution
As you know, Title IX requirements have expanded dramatically in the last 5 years, as have student and parent expectations regarding safety and support resources. While state universities have created and staffed new departments to mitigate the risk of Title IX liabilities, the tools that CIC member institutions need to keep pace haven’t always been available. -
2023 Foundation Conversation
The Foundation Conversation is an annual meeting of dialogue for corporate and private foundation officers and leaders of liberal arts colleges and universities. -
2023 Institute for Chief Academic Officers with Chief Advancement and Chief Communication and Marketing Officers
This annually held meeting brings chief academic officers of independent colleges and universities together, and includes special programming for new CAOs and CAOs in their third and fourth year. This year's Institute will be jointly held with chief advancement and chief communication and marketing officers. -
Senior Leadership Academy
CIC and the American Academic Leadership Institute (AALI) are pleased to announce the 2023–2024 Senior Leadership Academy (SLA), a yearlong program for administrators in higher education who aspire to cabinet-level positions in independent colleges or universities. -
2023 NetVUE Gathering at the AAR/SBL Annual Meeting
The theme of this pre-conference gathering aligns with the 2023 AAR theme (“La Labor de Nuestras Manos”) and builds on gatherings at previous AAR/SBL Annual Meetings. This event considers how our work, as educators in the field of religious studies and theology, might support our students’ hands-on efforts to discern their many callings in life. The cost for those from NetVUE member institutions is only $25, which includes a Thursday evening reception and dinner, as well as a light breakfast on Friday. Interested parties from non-NetVUE institutions may participate as well, at a slightly higher cost. -
Presidential Renewal Program
The Presidential Renewal Program is designed to support the personal renewal of experienced member presidents at CIC institutions who will continue to serve in the vital role of the college presidency. In addition to rich content, the seminars provide space for solitude and reflection with a small fellowship of presidents and partners seeking their own renewal. -
2024 New Presidents Program
A leadership development program for college presidents in their first or second year and their spouses or partners that addresses the practical needs and strategic questions for success as leaders of independent colleges and universities. -
2024 Spouses and Partners of New Presidents Program
The Spouses and Partners of New Presidents Program runs concurrently with CIC’s New Presidents Program in advance of the Presidents Institute. A small team of experienced presidential spouses leads the group through a comprehensive exploration of the spouse and partner role and helps each participant understand how he or she can serve in that role most effectively and with personal fulfillment. -

The Presidents Institute is an annually held meeting for presidents of independent colleges and universities that includes programs for new presidents and for spouses. -
2024 Presidential Spouses and Partners Program
CIC’s Presidential Spouses and Partners Program is designed to offer insight, advice, support, and fellowship to those who share this unique role. Developed in consultation with a task force of experienced presidential spouses and partners, it is held in conjunction with the Presidents Institute each January. -
Presidential Vocation and Institutional Mission
The Presidential Vocation and Institutional Mission program is designed for senior leaders at CIC member schools to explore their potential calling to serve as a college or university president. The program is designed to help participants explore their vocational calling, as well as examine what types of institutional missions they might best serve. -
Executive Leadership Academy
The Executive Leadership Academy (ELA) is a yearlong program cosponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), and the American Academic Leadership Institute (AALI) to prepare experienced provosts and vice presidents to move to positions of greater responsibility, including presidencies.
