Develop Your Craft as a Writer: Applications Due in October for Writing Colloquy  

NetVUE offers many opportunities to publish on vocation, but knowing how to navigate them and the writing process can sometimes be challenging—even for more experienced writers. To support colleagues from across our network who are interested in submitting their future work for publication, NetVUE is offering its third colloquy, Writing Vocation, on January 15–17, 2027, in Indianapolis. The colloquy offers staff and faculty members at any member institution—from any discipline, in any institutional role, and with any level of experience—the chance to develop their craft as writers. Those interested can apply directly (no nomination needed), and applications for this year’s colloquy are due on October 30. Up to fifteen participants will be selected through a competitive process. 

Participants can expect to deepen their understanding of vocation and hone their skills in writing about it. During the colloquy, NetVUE staff members Geoffrey Bateman, Krista Hughes, and Erin VanLaningham will facilitate a series of sessions in which participants explore how to write about vocation in different genres and for different audiences; participants also explore possible projects and create a writing plan for their work. Throughout the weekend, there is also time to do some writing and consult individually with colloquy leaders.  

Most costs for the colloquy are covered, including materials, lodging, meals, and a generous travel stipend.
