Learning and Networking | Register Now for October Webinars

With all of the resources that NetVUE offers, it can be hard to know where to start and how to make use of them. To help our membership navigate these resources, NetVUE invites you to join us for a 60-minute interactive workshop with Krista Hughes, John Barton, and Daniel Meyers, who will highlight three NetVUE resources: the recently published topical resource guides, the campus consultation program, and the searchable online resource library of relevant texts, films, and NetVUE event recordings. 

This webinar is designed for NetVUE colleagues who would like easy access to expertise from within the network as they build their vocational programs. The webinar’s goal is to help participants increase familiarity with these resources and learn how to use them in relation to different contexts on their campus. The presenters will offer an orientation to each resource and then let attendees explore them and begin to think about how they fit with their campus priorities.   

The webinar will take place on Tuesday, October 6, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern (3:00 Central, 2:00 Mountain, 1:00 Pacific); it is open to anyone at a NetVUE member institution at no cost, but registration is required. Please register for the webinar and encourage your colleagues to do the same. You may wish to use the webinar as a starting point for further application of some of NetVUE’s rich resources. 

How do courses in peace studies, conflict transformation, social justice, and related fields help students wrestle with questions of purpose, meaning, and calling? Given the nature and content of peace and justice education, these fields necessarily (and rather relentlessly) urge students to consider deeper questions: What kind of world ought we to build? What responsibilities do we have for one another? How and why are we called to work toward the common good, and how can our talents, values, and commitments contribute to it? 

This interactive conversation will feature Katy Gray Brown from Manchester University (IN), Niki Johnson from the University of Mount Union (OH), and Regina Shands Stoltzfus from Goshen College (IN). The webinar aims to bring together faculty who teach in peace studies and related disciplines to explore the relationship between vocation and peacebuilding. Panelists will begin with short reflections on how the study of peace encourages students to connect intellectual inquiry with ethical responsibility, civic engagement, and lives of purpose. Participants will be invited to discuss their experience of student engagement in peace and justice education as integral to the students’ vocational formation and their discernment of meaningful paths forward in a complex and divided world. 

Participants will gather on Thursday, October 22, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern (3:00 Central, 2:00 Mountain, 1:00 Pacific). The webinar is open to anyone at a NetVUE member institution at no cost, but registration is required.
