As NetVUE member institutions develop their vocational programs, it can be helpful to encounter models of such programming directly—in person and in conversation with colleagues who have implemented them successfully. To make this kind of opportunity more accessible and effective, NetVUE has recently updated its Campus Visit Program. The goal of this program is to make it possible for campus teams to visit another NetVUE member institution and to learn more about their models of successful vocational programming. During these visits, colleagues can engage in meaningful conversations and often come away with ideas for how to implement similar initiatives on their own campus and retain an important partner for future reflection.
In the revised model, member institutions can apply for grants that enable a small team to visit another institution in two different ways. First, five featured opportunities have already been organized for this academic year, each with a focus on a specific kind of vocational programming that models the host institution’s successful planning and implementation. The applications for these visits are open, and space is limited, so consider applying soon! This year’s featured hosts (and their topics) include:
- Assumption University (Worcester, MA): Belonging, Flourishing, and Vocation
- Hope College (Holland, MI): Vocation and the First-Year Experience
- Methodist University (Fayetteville, NC): A Vocational Framework for General Education
- Bay Path University (Longmeadow, MA): AI, Career Readiness, and Vocation
- Augustana College (Rock Island, IL): Vocation and Business
Second, a self-organized option is still available, through which member institutions can propose to visit another NetVUE member institution from whom they would like to learn.
If you haven’t already done so, be sure to read the Spotlight in this issue of the newsletter for a story about how a campus visit made a significant difference for two NetVUE institutions—both the visitor and the host.
