In response to CIC member data and requests for more information about ongoing topics in the sector, CIC hosted the following webinar this fall:
“Navigating Campus Conflicts over the Israel-Hamas War: A Conversation for CIC Member Presidents and CAOs” was held on October 19. This webinar offered support and an opportunity for discussion about navigating and responding to the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, and the subsequent declaration of war. Eboo Patel, founder and president of Interfaith America, and Laurie Patton, president of Middlebury College (VT), moderated the discussion and shared thoughts and strategies. Patel and Patton work with CIC to lead the Teaching Interfaith Understanding seminars for faculty members. This was a confidential conversation for CIC presidents and chief academic officers only, and it was not recorded.
Corporate Affiliate Program Webinars
CIC is piloting a Corporate Affiliate program to provide members with discounted services and products and, at the same time, encourage companies to invest in the independent higher education sector. In addition to the webinar above, CIC partnered with two corporate affiliate partners to provide additional information about their services in a webinar format:
Core Education, a public benefit corporation with a mission to transform the business model for non-profit colleges and universities and CIC’s new corporate affiliate partner, hosted a webinar in November. Through this partnership, CIC member institutions and their boards can embark on an innovative journey of business model transformation using data and Core’s innovative use of venture philanthropy to fund institutional change This session was open to presidents, CFOs, and Chiefs of Staff, with encouragement to invite board leaders as well. Mainstay, CIC’s newest Corporate Affiliate partner, delivers AI-enabled student engagement that combines proactive, timely guidance for students via text message, and answers questions from students automatically 24/7. Representatives from CIC and Mainstay hosted a webinar in January, to present best practices for enrolling and retaining students with communication techniques and technology consistently proven to drive student action. Webinar speakers included Mainstay’s Julie Delich, vice president of content architecture and solutions; and John Maycock, chief partnerships officer.
